Welcome to Waking Up Well, a column where we hand-select people we admire and ask them to share how they start the day. We think morning routines are a crucial part of an intentional wellness journey and we’re fascinated by the practices of our favorite figures.

If you’ve ever tuned in to Victorious or found yourself scrolling for a plant-based recipe on Instagram, chances are you’ve come across the vibrant Daniella Monet. Known for her sunny personality and passion for wellness, Daniella has seamlessly transitioned from childhood star to entrepreneur and accomplished actress. When she’s not off shooting a new project or busy cooking up delicious plant-centered recipes for her meal planning app, Daniella’s Digest, Daniella is embracing the joys of family life with her two little ones and her husband Andrew in their Los Angeles home. We fell in love with the way she incorporates movement and nutrition with ease into her busy schedule for herself and her family alike, so we wanted to share her morning routine with you!

Her mornings are a beautiful mix of love, energy, and self-care, filled with little moments that set the tone for a productive and fulfilling day. Let’s dive into the routine that keeps this busy mom, actress, and entrepreneur running every day. ➡️

6:30 am | Tech-free mornings 📻

I wake up to my kids crawling into bed with me. Who needs an alarm when you have a 4- and 5-year-old? We love starting our mornings with snuggles and small talk. Tech-free mornings are important, and we don’t do any TV during the week. Though Andrew and I use tech for work and life, I try not to look at my phone right when I wake up, usually only once I get downstairs and turn on the music. We play calm coffeehouse acoustic tunes throughout the day as a baseline and background noise.

6:45 am | Movement & oil pulling ✨

The kids usually do some movement either in their rooms or in the playroom. They have some acrobatic-style gym equipment that they love to play on. While they play, I throw on a workout set, brush my teeth, and oil pull while I catch up on emails and check my schedule for the day.

7:15 am | Brekkie & liposomals 🍳

We head downstairs and I make breakfast for the family while Andrew makes us drinks. He makes fresh cashew milk almost daily that we love having with Pique matcha and MUD\WTR — often with a packet of Cymbiotika’s Magnesium Liposomal on the side. Sometimes, if I’m intermittent fasting, I’ll just boil water and make a packet of Four Sigmatic instant coffee. This past year, I’ve been switching between coffee and matcha. For breakfast, I whip up something balanced and filling. Usually eggs, avocado toast, and fruit. If I’m feeling up for it, I’ll bake protein banana and chocolate chip muffins or lemon-blueberry scones. My biggest baking hack is using ½ organic einkorn, ½ Truvani protein powder, either unflavored or flavored depending on what I’m baking. I have almost all of their flavors, so good!

7:30 am | Pack lunches & chit chat 💛

While the kids eat, I pack up their lunches. We usually chit-chat and have some family time before we get them dressed and ready for school.

8:00 am | Nutrition for the kiddos & our dog 🐾

After breakfast, I have them run up and pick out their clothes. My daughter Ivry likes picking things out for herself. She has a very fun style — she’s loving unicorns and rainbows at the moment. Gio would prefer I choose his outfit. After we’re all dressed for the day, I brush Ivry’s hair, style G’s, and then we take our supplements. This usually consists of Cymbiotika’s Liposomal B12 and Omegas, Garden of Life Kid Chewable Probiotics, Thorne Vitamin D drops, and sometimes — depending on the season — some type of homeopathic immune system wellness formula. While the kids get dressed, one of us will feed our dog, Jake. It’s usually Andrew, but sometimes we’ll ask one of the kids to do it. We feed him Halo Holistic dog food, or Bramble, and we like to add hemp seeds and olive oil on top.

8:15 am | Dropoff 🚗

We leave for school! My kids go to two different schools right now, and they’re both about 10 minutes away in opposite directions, so dropoff usually takes me about an hour.

9:15 am | F45 & infrared sauna 💦

After the kids are at school, I get some me time. First things first, I usually fit in a workout. Today, I decided to go to an F45 class. If I’m feeling extra ambitious post-workout, I’ll hop into our Sunhome red light therapy sauna for about 15–20 minutes before cleaning up the house. Kitchen cleanup is always a must. I have to have a clean space in the heart of our home since I spend the most time here! Next priority is laundry.

11 am | Skincare & meal planning 🥬

I take a quick shower, do my hair, and hydrate my face with all my favorite serums. I’m so into the formulas by Ages, Oak Essentials, and Reflekt. But before diving into work, if it’s a Monday morning, I go on my meal planner app, Daniella’s Digest, and I plan out some of my recipes for the week. I use our “add to cart” feature and it automatically pulls the ingredients I need for each meal and allows me to check out on Instacart. The delivery usually comes around noon.

12 pm | Down to business 📈

I prioritize all things work — from touch bases with my team about any projects we have in our pipeline to high-level growth strategizing for the app to basic silly content creation. I try to also squeeze in some sort of baking or smoothie concoction so I can pick my kids up with a snack later in the day!
